Hello everyone, Brad here. I first want to take the opportunity to thank our most recent guest writers for gracing us with their considerable writing talents. You truly are some fantastic wordsmiths. Rumor has it that we will have a few more guest writers in the near future, so stay tuned!
Looking at the landscape in the league after 10 weeks, I have to say, this might be the most parity I have ever seen in the league. No one has officially been eliminated from the playoffs and only one team can feel fairly comfortable with their chances of securing a spot in the playoffs. This should be an exciting 4 week sprint to the regular season finish line.
This week I thought we would take a trip down memory lane and look at how our teams compared to the teams we drafted. From late-round gems to each team’s biggest regrets (which there are a lot of). On to the rankings:
Chubby Choder (7-3, 1185.4 PF)
7-3 while getting Saquon AND your team’s namesake back has you sitting at the top of the rankings this week.
Biggest Draft Steal: This one is pretty easy. Ja’Marr Chase in the 8th round is one of the best values of the entire draft. Trading him was a curious move after his season-long performance, but getting Mark Andrews in the deal makes the trade palatable.
Biggest Draft Mistake: This one was also easy considering it was an actual mistake. Mile Sanders even before his injury has been a major disappointment. Maybe you should consider not drafting both your fantasy teams at the same time in the future (obviously this league should ALWAYS take precedent over any other leagues).
Thou Shenault Pass (6-4, 1248.06 PF)
I would say sorry that you got “Kupp checked” last week, but that would be a lie. Fun fact, I also won $2 from Kevin on Kupp bringing me back from the brink! 6-4 is a great record at this point and as soon as you get Hunt back, you will be a tough out in the playoffs.
Biggest Draft Steal: Even with 2 poor performances in a row, getting Matthew Stafford, the 6th overall QB on the year in the 11th round was a fantastic pick.
Biggest Draft Mistake: Leviska Shenualt may have been your team’s namesake, but he certainly didn’t help your team at all this year. Props to you for having your biggest mistake be in the 8th round though!
Kiss My Bass (6-4, 1147.84 PF)
The winning streak had to end sometime and it’s hard to win without your first-round pick. Looks like you have another tough week ahead without some key contributors.
Biggest Draft Steal: Before the season began, my money would have been on Darnell Mooney, but Matt Nagy ruins everything he touches. I am going to go with Kyler Murray in the 5th round. Prior to the injury, he was definitely the best QB in fantasy football and you didn’t have to give up your 3rd round pick like I did to get Mahomes.
Biggest Draft Mistake: I’m going with Chase Claypool. He hasn’t been terrible, but seeing as Mark Andrews was picked right after him, you would like to see some more production out of a 4th round pick.
Ridley Me This (5-5, 1231.2 PF)
Considering I am without Cooper Kupp this week, I can not understate how clutch it was to get the W last week against Josh. If I can somehow beat Richie, who is coming on strong of late, I will be starting to get my hopes up. Which is never a good thing in my experience.
Biggest Draft Steal: Hard to argue with picking Cooper Kupp for this one. When you pick the number 1 overall WR on the year in the 4th round, you’re gonna have a good time. I would easily have 3 more losses on my record without him in my lineup.
Biggest Draft Mistake: I have two, but I will go with the one that I have dropped twice and picked up again three times. My hopes were obviously high on Brandon Aiyuk going into the season. However, when seemingly every ball goes to Deebo Samuel, you’re gonna have a bad time.
Jonesin’ 4 Snacks (5-5, 1164.66 PF)
The slide down the rankings continues for the Jones’ family. You’ve had a rough go of it lately, with an injury to Aaron Jones and a season-ending injury to Robert Woods. Your depth is coming in handy now and you are still in the thick of things.
Biggest Draft Steal: You may have gotten the steal of the entire draft. Marquise “Hollywood” Brown is currently sitting as the number 6 overall wr on the season. You got him in the 11th round! That is the best value of the entire draft in my opinion.
Biggest Draft Mistake: Like me, you got burned by Kyle Shanahan. Trey Sermon seemed destined for a role on one of the more dependable fantasy running back teams in the league. That, however, never panned out. Even with an injury to the starter coming into the season, Sermon got passed over for Elijah Mitchell…
Casa Gronka (5-5, 1158.04 PF)
Just keep hanging around. The inconsistency of DeAndre Hopkins’ health and play has really put a damper on your team this year. Squeak a win out here or there before Hopkins gets back and you will have a strong chance to take home the championship.
Biggest Draft Steal: If we did this edition 3 weeks from now, I would probably say AJ Dillon, but for this conversation, I’m going with Darrel Henderson. The best RB production from the 5th round or later in the whole draft.
Biggest Draft Mistake: It’s a little unfair to choose someone who hasn’t played a game all year, but drafting Michael Thomas was a gamble that definitely did not work out for you.
Establish the Fun (5-5, 1189.4 PF)
I learned a while ago that you can never be counted out of a season or matchup. This year has proven that again and again. Your team is capable of putting up 150, but just as capable of scoring 80.
Biggest Draft Steal: James Robinson seemed a little high when you drafted him, but when he has played this year, he has been worth the draft price.
Biggest Draft Mistake: Robby Anderson was a safe pick in the 7th round, but depending on Sam Darnold is never a recipe for success.
Waller? I Hardly Knew You (5-5, 1242.06 PF)
The injury to Derrick Henry has really changed the fortunes of your team. You can still put up monster weeks with the wr trio you have, but you’re not as scary of an opponent as you were a few weeks ago.
Biggest Draft Steal: Deebo Samuel is neck and neck with Hollywood Brown for the biggest steal of the draft. He is a target hog on one of the best offenses in the league.
Biggest Draft Mistake: In hindsight, even before Chase Edmonds’ injury, he was not getting the carries to justify his draft price. Especially considering the rbs chosen after him.
Kevin’s Little Beauties (5-5, 115.64 PF)
This year is the best chance this league has had to potentially have a gauranteed shot of having a new champion and I am HERE FOR THAT SHIT! You will need some big performances from Ja’marr Chase to get in the playoffs, but knowing the Gallashi magic, I see you making it in.
Biggest Draft Steal: Mark Andrew’s is one of the top TEs in the league and you turned him into the new hottness at the WR position.
Biggest Draft Mistake: As much as I enjoy watching the Bears ruin a good player, the downfall of Allen Robinson has been quite depressing. Being forced to drop your third round pick can’t feel good.
Discount Double Choke (4-6, 1198.66 PF)
Solid start to the week getting 26 from your defense. Might need to go to Home Depot soon and drop some money to thank Arthur Blank. A few injuries to starting runningbacks have broken your way this year. Playoffs are a distinct possibilty.
Biggest Draft Steal: James Conner has been a touchdown machine this year. It should continue for at least a few more weeks with Edmonds still on IR.
Biggest Draft Mistake: When you draft a WR in the first 5 rounds, you are definitely hoping for better than the 42nd overall WR on the year. Tee Higgins has unfortunately been overshadowed by Chase all season.
Judge Juedy (4-6, 1113.2 PF)
THE PHOENIX IS STILL RISING!!! CMC could not have come back any later to keep your playoff hopes alive. I have a tall order ahead of me this week.
Biggest Draft Steal: Michael Pittman is crushing it as the number one in the Colts offense. Getting him in the 8th round makes your biggest mistake sting a little less.
Biggest Draft Mistake: Corey Davis never proved he could be a team’s number one when he was in Tennesse and that still holds true in whatever the Jets call an offense. Spending a 5th round pick on him was suspect on draft day and still is today.
Koo Koo Kachoo (3-7, 1269.68 PF)
Kimi, you are still not out of it! You have found pretty much every possible way to lose this year. From last minute injuries to the most insane comeback I have ever seen in the league. Don’t give up hope yet.
Biggest Draft Steal: 4 weeks ago I would have said Mike WIlliams, but he has cooled off a bit. I am going with the person I regret most missing out on, DeVonta Smith.
Biggest Draft Mistake: No glaring mistakes in this draft, but taking Tyler Boyd over his teammate, Ja’marr Chase isnt the best look in hindsight.
Good luck to everyone in week 11, except Richie!
