TGPFF Week 9 Power Rankings
Thou Shenault Pass (6-3, 1116.74 PF)
Yeah, you’ve dropped two games in a row but you are keeping your place at the top. Being without Kareem Hunt has been a challenge as you don’t have a ton of depth at that position, but I’ve got to give you props for picking up Adrian Peterson prior to the MNF game, thus stonewalling the rest of these vultures from getting a bid in for him.
This week should be tough versus Brad. Antonio Gibson is apparently dealing with a shin injury that is expected to linger all season, so rest of season might depend on you making the right calls at RB. You’ve got lots of guys in a similar tier there.
Kiss my Bass (6-3, 1062.22 PF)
Don’t look now, but Hannah has won five straight games and has catapulted up to the top of the league rankings. It helps that three of your opponents failed to put up 100 points, but it definitely has not been all luck. This week will be a big challenge with no Alvin Kamara and Kyler Murray still not 100% from the ankle injury. Looking ahead, once OBJ learns the playbook you should be getting an instant upgrade at WR. Fortunately AK41’s injury is short-term and Chris Carson comes back soon - at full health your team is shaping up nicely.
Chubby Choder (6-3, 1081.88 PF)
6-3 with the highest score in week 9 … nice. You’ve managed to stay competitive without some of your best players, too, behind some big scoring weeks from Lamar Jackson/Ja’Marr Chase/Nick Chubb. You absolutely fleeced Kevin in that trade - it was borderline veto-able, but we all like to see Kevin take an L.
Acquiring De’Ernest Johnson as a bridge until your big guns come back was shrewd. If Jordan Howards falls into the end zone Sunday I think you’ve got a great chance to get win #7.
Jonesin’ 4 Snacks (5-4, 1070.78 PF)
Last week was tough with all that Detroit garbage time on the shelf, but this week you’ve got the whole squad back and Danny Dimes is on the bench where he belongs. Your team took a ding on Friday with the announcement that Robert Woods tore his ACL, but fortunately WR is a position of strength for you.
You’re one of just two teams with a pair of top-10 RBs; if Josh Allen decides to start throwing Stefon Diggs the ball you could run away with this thing.
Ridley Me This (4-5, 1096.46 PF)
The Jonathan Taylor redemption arc has been quite the sight to see this season. Three weeks into the season he was looking like a bit of a bust, but the last six weeks he’s been playing like a man possessed. Kupp continues to impress as well, but otherwise a lack of consistency from some of your key players has been an obstacle.
I think I know what’s going on with Patrick Mahomes. Have you seen the cringey TikTok videos Patrick’s brother and wife have been making at the Chiefs games? I think Patrick is dealing with PTSD from the shame of being associated with those people. I also can’t rule out that Calvin Ridley is feeling such severe second-hand embarrassment from them that it has affected his mental health as well. It’s got to stop.
Waller? I Hardly Knew Her (5-4, 1151.74 PF)
It’s hard to understate how devastating the loss of Derrick Henry is to your Championship hopes this year. No other RBs are routinely getting 25+ carries/game and he was seeing an uptick in targets this year, too. Brutal. With Chase Edmonds also out this week the cupboard is pretty bare.
Your receivers continue to be a bright spot and the return of Russell Wilson will be huge for Tyler Lockett. You will need to stay healthy to make a deep playoff push as your bench is pretty depleted at this point.
Discount Double Choke (4-5, 1086.48 PF)
I dropped a close one last week against Brad to put an end to my win streak. Discovering that Aaron Rodgers, the leader of my team, isn’t vaccinated and listens to the Joe Rogan Experience … has been profoundly disappointing. On paper this week looks good for me as James Connor and Mark Ingram are must starts with the injuries to Edmonds and Kamara. Kittle is back and looks good. I’m feeling a tinge of optimism with this team for the first time since week 1.
Kevin’s Little Beauties (4-5, 1031.04 PF)
First of all, congratulations on taking Dan to the cleaners on that trade. I mean, wow. Completely swindled. Yes, Ja’Marr Chase is on bye this week and Higbee is on bye next week, but one week soon these guys may all possibly be playing for you at the same time and if that happens - watch out.
It was tough, but you made the right call moving on from Allen Robinson. You went out and got some reinforcements at WR, and with Antonio Brown and CEH’s (hopeful) week 10 return you’ll have some big play potential returning. This week is a bit of a patchwork, but you you’ve set yourself up for a competitive second half.
Casa Gronka (4-5, 1047.84 PF)
It’s been a bit of a rough year to this point, Drew. I thought the Michael Thomas stash was a worthwhile investment but unfortunately that’s out the window. Elsewhere, McLaurin and Dionte Johnson are underperforming principally due to poor QB play and the TE injuries you’ve been dealing with have set you back. But Russ is back this week and Logan Thomas should be back the next. This is still a competitive team but it would be nice if your WRs started stepping up and putting up the numbers they are capable of.
Establish the Fun (4-5, 1088.66 PF)
Well it took a few years for it to happen to you, but some years you draft a dud or two in the first few rounds and it sets your team back the rest of the season. This is one of those years. Fortunately for you the Cordarrelle Patterson pick up has been probably the best waiver move of the year which is keeping you in the playoff conversation.
Russ’s return will give DK a big boost but your bench is pretty short. Some good injury luck will go a long way in improving your postseason chances.
Koo Koo Kachoo (3-6, 1160.84 PF)
After weeks of putting up big scores and losing, you benefitted from some luck in beating Josh after putting up 100 points. DJ Moore has had a disappointing month thanks to the trash QB options in Carolina, but otherwise your team is pretty stacked.
Somehow you have the same record as your opponent Richie despite averaging 20 more points per week. He has CMC back but I still think you’ve got a pretty substantial talent advantage. Finish him!
Judge Jeudy (3-6, 998.9 PF)
The good news is Christian McCaffrey is back. The bad news you’re realistically one loss away from missing the playoffs and you’re last in points. I remember how happy you were to have the #1 pick. Pure unbridled joy… Soy Boy McCaffrey claims his second victim in as many years. Sad.
Best of luck to everyone this week!
Love,
Your Commissioners
