Hi everyone,
Thank you all for filling out the survey I sent out last month. Here are the results:
First of all, everyone is bringing it back for another year in TGPFF - great news!
On the questions of potentially doing away with the kicker or D/ST to add another Flex, the league is decidedly split. A slight majority of you favor replacing the kicker, while only half of you favor replacing the D/ST. We’re going to maintain the same league settings this year.
The one day that all of us are available to draft is Saturday, September 2, so that’s the plan! Specific time TBD; probably noon-ish as to accommodate Ivan who is 9 hours ahead of us in the Netherlands.
Traditionally we’ve determined the draft order through a variety of methods over the years to keep things fresh. This year I think we’ve outdone ourselves.. here’s the plan:
Each of you has been randomly assigned an NFL team. This was done by listing all of us and all NFL teams alphabetically in an excel document. I copied/pasted our names into a randomizer website and shuffled it randomly eight times in honor of our eighth year. I copied/pasted the new order of our names into the excel doc. I then copied/pasted all NFL teams into the randomizer and again randomly shuffled that list 8 times. I copied/pasted the top 12 NFL teams into the excel doc next to the random list of our names, and this is the outcome:
Ivan - Buffalo Bills
Evan - Jacksonville Jaguars
Dan - Indianapolis Colts
Kevin - Cincinnati Bengals
Brad - Minnesota Vikings
Kristina - Denver Broncos
Josh - Houston Texans
Drew - Washington Commanders
Kimi - Green Bay Packers
Mia - Chicago Bears
Hannah - Pittsburgh Steelers
Richie - Arizona Cardinals
*(Video recording available HERE for the haters/skeptics)
Draft order this year will be determined by the point differential (the numerical gap between points scored and points allowed) of our respective teams. Highest point differential picks first, lowest point differential picks last. In the event of any ties, the tiebreaker we implement will be team total offensive yards. So for all intents and purposes, the draft order will be officially settled after the last preseason game on Sunday, August 27. The official draft order will be published either that night or the following day.
Lastly, I’m excited to announce that Brad and Mia have graciously offered to host us at their house in Mill Creek on 9/2 for a draft party! You all know Mia usually goes super hard with the snacks, but with baby Aila joining the party (yay!) we want to make this potluck style to lighter their load a bit. Also, there’s a twist…
You know that random NFL team you’ve been assigned? We want the food you prepare for the party to be inspired by the team/city you’ve been assigned. For example, it sucks Ivan can’t come to the party because buffalo wings would be a hit. Maybe Drew will make some crab cakes? Is Kevin going to bring some skyline chili? Ew.. I hope not. Free free to be as creative or uncreative as you’d like!
Also, +1s are invited! So for those of you with a partner/spouse who isn’t yet their own manager in the league, we’d love for them to join us (Mrs. Neal and Mrs. Wurtz immediately come to mind, but all are welcomed!). They can bring a food based on any team/city they want - again, bonus points for creativity! Make sure they bring something good, though, because we have unfortunately been assigned way too many teams from the Midwest/Rust Belt..
Please let Brad and Mia know ASAP if you plan to attend. Full details to follow.
I’m super excited for year eight! Best of luck to your teams this preseason.
